Update/whining sesh on my life to all you anon’s:

I have a crush on the student assistant in one of my classes- I haven’t liked a guy since senior year of high school. He’s coming over on Friday night to watch Army of Darkness with me. I’m not really sure whether this movie-viewing experience is strictly platonic (I’ve been seeing him a bit more lately, and we only really became friends about a week and a half ago) or whether it’s something more than that. I’m also fairly certain that the professor suspects that something is going on (which I’m not even sure if there really is, or if my SA is just really friendly), and I’m not really sure whether what I’m chasing after is allowed or not.

God damn, why do I even bother.

Oh, and school. That sucks too.

For Game Design Workshop, we’re required to create a tabletop role-playing game, which is like Dungeons and Dragons, for you non-gamers out there.

My game is going to basically take all of the really kickass stuff from Army of Darkness, Toxic Avenger, Dead Alive, and Repo Man, and mesh it into one really kickass game. Kind of really excited to see how this turns out. If anything, my professor will realize how much of a sucker I am for B-grade horror films.

ASDFJKLASJDFKSA I CAN’T EVEN EXPLAIN HOW AWESOME TODAY WAS!!!

I talked to John Romero for like half an hour and had an awesome conversation with him, and he gave me his business card and told me to add him on last.fm and facebook when he left. CAN I JUST SAY THAT THIS IS THE LEGENDARY JOHN ROMERO WHO CREATED WOLFENSTEIN 3D, DOOM, AND QUAKE, AND IS A LEGEND IN THE VIDEO GAMES INDUSTRY!?!?!?!?

I also got recruited as an artist to work on a game! Double win!

And I made friends with all these cool people, and had dinner with them!

The best part is I’m going back tomorrow again, ALFKDSHAHFAAHAHHh!q@111!

-saw Hideo Kojima lecture at school, where he showed us confidential footage of his Fox Engine. I also walked right next to him and stood there staring at him as he left and got to wave goodbye to him, as the president of Konami watched me. SO AMAZING AND MIND-BLOWING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Way better than the time I met him (and he put his arm around me when we took a picture!) Did I mention that they announced that USC and Konami have been working together to try having a Konami class at SC!? SO GLAD TO BE AT USC *shameless plug for USC’s gaming programs*

-attended an exclusive awards show and after-party at IndieCade, where I:

met and hung out with Sujan Balakrishnan Goldberg from The Guild
talked to Megan Gaiser, creator of the Nancy Drew games (not really a fan, but really love that she really opened up gaming targeted towards girls)
mingled with Richard Lemarchand, lead designer of Uncharted, at a party
hung out/partied with tons of awesome indie game developers
hung out/partied with tons of actors from super cool TV shows

-IndieCade round two tomorrow!

Aside from this computer science assignment due Tuesday, I LOVE MY LIFE SO MUCH.

-gaming panel- Atari, EA, Microsoft, etc. are coming to explain their internships and actually hire interns
-Indiecade, the best indie games festival, Thursday-Sunday
-Michael Apted coming to speak on Sunday

Really weak shit keeping me from doing all of this awesome stuff this week:
-class hours clash with everything
-computer science final homework assignment due
-physics in general
-starting the CS factory project this week (did I mention that other than operating systems, this is supposed to be the worst computer science class because of this project?)
